This is Craig -- the Co-Founder/CEO of Proplay, a marketplace for online learning communities that help you achieve your professional goals. I decided to do a bi weekly update so I can put a few more interesting updates in these posts about Proplay. I mean we are moonlighting on this right now so want to make sure we are getting people enough interesting updates ha.
What happened these past 2 week
Doug has been doing a great job getting all the critical features ready for the Beta launch. He completed the edit and delete videos feature and has started chipping away at the in app purchases and locking and unlocking content.
For myself I put a high level game plan on how we will be executing our marketing efforts. The plan is to do 3 different tests across Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to see how many people convert to active users for Proplay. The plan is to follow or friend 100 target users, defensive lineman ages 16 - 20, and see the conversion rate to active users. Once we know which platform is converting best we will optimize for that specific platform. Thankfully I found some amazing blog posts written by Austen Allred, founder of Lambda School, on how to optimize for different social media platforms (as seen below). What do you all think about this approach?

Furthermore, I created a content plan for 100 videos I will be posting in the future https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xjZy6arcD5qRzSpXDPuQ4Gqj9QPMBHWD0ypMHOc55Yg/edit?usp=sharing and then reached out to some football players on Twitter, and conducted some usability tests that we got great feedback on.
I always knew Twitter was good for getting the word out, but I would have never thought it was such an effective recruitment tool for user tests.
Basically I just tweeted out the below
And got a crap ton of impressions….
And was able to find 3 guys who wanted to talk (one guy below)..
Definitely putting this trick in my back pocket for the future. The usability testing went great with these guys and was able to get some great insights into how these guys are currently using apps like Instagram and Youtube to improve as football players. Here are a few of the comments from the interviews…
“For a brand new app this looks pretty good”
“It would be great if you could swipe up or down on the videos instead of tapping the X”
“This app is very simple to understand and get used to.”

I don’t have a ton of marketing experience and am looking to put together some sort of marketing strategy to start generating some buzz around the Proplay Beta launch but am not sure where to start. Would love any help in that area.
I also am looking to get into contact with more people who have eLearning or marketplace expertise who would be interested in mentoring.
